Dr. Mike Zhou
Dr. Zhou received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of British Columbia Faculty of Dentistry in 2010, graduating with honors and distinction, ranking among the top of his peers. Prior to dentistry, he completed his undergraduate degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, also at the University of British Columbia, and worked as a pharmacist for several years. Additionally, since 2012, Dr. Zhou has been a part time faculty member at the UBC Dental School.
When it comes to dentistry, Dr. Zhou has a strong passion for his profession. He takes pride in being a gentle dentist and for providing high quality long lasting treatments to his patients. He enjoys all aspects of dentistry, from basic restorative dentistry to more advanced procedures such as wisdom teeth extractions, root canals, gum grafting, dental implants, and cosmetic dentistry. In particular, Dr. Zhou is one of the few dentists in Canada trained in the Biomimetic Dentistry approach. He has been practicing and perfecting this technique since 2011. He was drawn to Biomimetic Dentistry because he wanted to provide patients with long lasting esthetic restorations. Teeth restored with the biomimetic method are able to function better, look more natural, and less likely to need future crowns, endodontic therapy, and extractions. See here for more details.
Outside of work, Dr. Zhou is an avid artist and photographer. Ever since he was young, he has enjoyed drawing and painting and for the last 10 years he has been passionate about photography. He mainly enjoys photographing nature but naturally as a dentist, he is also enthusiastic about photographing teeth.
